Star Wars. Star Trek. The White House. Put them together and you get “Jedi Mind Meld”, which has since become a thing by the White House shortly after President Barack Obama mistakenly mixed up Star Wars and Star Trek terminology, angering fans of both franchises.
You might be asking yourself “what exactly is Jedi Mind Meld?” It’s taking some of most recognized sci-fi franchises, Star Wars and Star Trek, and using them to get people aware of the Obama’s plan to “avert the Sequester and reduce the deficit.” The URL provided in the image that the White House tweeted earlier today redirects you to a page about the Sequester and how the President plans on dealing with it.
For something like this coming out of the White House, it’s a little… unexpected. Then again, this is Obama we’re talking about, and he does appeal greatly to the youth by portraying himself as the “cool Prez.” Pulling something off like this isn’t too surprising coming out of Obama when you think about it. Although, something like this does make it harder for conservatives to take him seriously
Although that’s not to say Obama’s nerdiness isn’t being the subject of question. Mistaking “Jedi mind trick” with “Vulcan mind meld” is unforgivable.
